The abbreviation IP stands for Ingress Protection. The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) draws up and publishes the IP code protection classes. The IP protection class describes the protection of devices (e.g. mobile devices) against the ingress of solid objects (first digit of the code) and the degree of protection of the housing against the ingress of water into the device (second digit of the code).
