IECEx
The international process IECEx (International Electrical Commission System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for use in Explosive Atmosphere) under the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) certifies electrical devices for use in explosions hazardous areas.
The aim of the IECEx is to implement an internationally standardized system for the certification of Ex-protected devices. The hazardous areas in which explosive atmospheres can occur are divided into different classes. The aim of the so-called IECEx Scheme, the IECEx Scheme established by the IEC, is to ensure that uniform standards, test marks and test reports for Ex devices are mutually recognized all over the world (ExTRs).
Currently, IECEx is only approved in Australia and New Zealand without being converted into national certificates. Devices that have only IECEx approval are currently not allowed to be used in Europe.
