i.safe MOBILE and Nokia agree partnership
i.safe MOBILE, innovation and global market leader for explosion-proof mobile devices and solutions, and industry leader Nokia have agreed on an international partnership. The IS540.x intrinsically safe industrial 5G smartphone from i.safe MOBILE will be integrated with Nokia Private Wireless and edge applications into Nokia's market-leading end-to-end platform for industrial digitalisation. As a provider of network infrastructure, devices and solutions that connect people and machines, Nokia is enabling digital transformation in industry. In hazardous areas, it is critical that employees work with devices that are Ex-certified. As a result of this international partnership, Nokia will expand its portfolio of industrial devices to include i.safe MOBILE products, addressing the connectivity needs of companies in the chemical, pharmaceutical and mining sectors, among others.
The world's first 5G smartphone for ATEX and IECEx Zone 1/21, the IS540.1, and the IS540.2 for Zone 2/22 have both won the prestigious Red Dot Award for product design and are now part of Nokia's end-to-end solution for private cellular infrastructure.
Nokia offers 5G industrial devices delivered via the Nokia Digital Automation Cloud (DAC) as part of a subscription-based ‘as a Service’ (aaS) model. The application packages include Nokia Industrial Device Management. It enables administrators to remotely maintain devices and implement group policies in order to transfer device management to the entire fleet. These are complemented by Nokia Team Comms and the Nokia Network Digital Twin. In the future, Nokia will add further device types to the Managed-aaS model.

The 5G industrial smartphone enables powerful AI and computing capabilities, the 48 MP main camera delivers the highest image quality. The IS540.x is certified to IP68, MIL-STD 810H, international explosion and mining standards. The Android Enterprise Recommendation certification guarantees compatibility with other recommended products and services such as MDM systems for managing the device fleet. The zero-touch rollout option for automatic integration of communication devices into MDM systems makes it easier for IT departments to set up the devices.
